HealthSouth East Valley Case Manager Named Companywide Regional Award Winner
As a case manager at HealthSouth East Valley Rehabilitation Hospital in Mesa, Megan Greer meets daily with patients and their family or caregivers to coordinate all aspects of the patients’ care. She plays an integral role on the multidisciplinary team to monitor progress and coordinate additional services when needed.
In her role at the inpatient rehabilitation hospital, she provides exceptional care for patients overcoming a variety of debilitating illnesses and injuries including stroke, brain injury, hip fracture, spinal cord injury and complex orthopedic conditions. Along with the hospital’s neuropsychologist, she facilitates a support group for current patients and families in the neuro unit to provide the education and support they need when facing a life-changing experience. Her dedication to her patients and willingness to help others has placed her in the spotlight as a finalist for HealthSouth’s overall Outstanding Employee Achievement Award.
Megan, one of only six finalists out of more than 28,000 HealthSouth employees, received this annual recognition and was honored at an award banquet held yesterday in Birmingham, Alabama. Award finalists are selected based on their performance in four areas: contributions to extraordinary patient experience, team spirit and cooperation, commitment to continuous quality improvement and going above and beyond the call of duty. The process began with each of HealthSouth’s 123 hospitals honoring a hospital employee of the year. Then, six finalists were named at the regional level; and one overall recipient was named for the company.
“Megan is an outstanding employee who consistently goes out of her way for her team members, patients, and families; going above and beyond to improve their care and satisfaction,” said Jeff Roberts, chief executive officer of HealthSouth East Valley. “Her compassion is very well regarded in the hospital and in the community, including her efforts with the Brain Injury Alliance and the American Case Management Association. She is truly deserving of this honor!”
Megan’s dedication does not solely lie to her patients. She shows her dedication to fellow employees through serving on the hospital’s activities and wellness committees. Outside of work, she is on the education committee with the American Case Management Association and fundraises for the Arizona Brain Injury Alliance.
